Classic Smash Burger

Everyone loves a burger, so why not make one at home? This recipe is easy and takes only a few ingredients some of which you might already have. Give it a try.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 Medium onion sliced
  • 1 Jar pickles
  • 1 Bottle of mustard
  • 1 Tomato sliced
  • Your choice of lettuce (I used ice burg)
  • 4 slices of your favorite cheese (cheddar, American, Swiss, etc.)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns

Directions

  1. Preheat a cast iron pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Form the Patties. Dividing the ground beef into 4 equal ball portions.
  3. Place the patties on the preheated pan
  4. Press down hard with a spatula
  5. Season with a sprinkle of black pepper and salt then brush on mustard onto it
  6. Press sliced onions on it then flip.
  7. Season other side with black pepper and salt then cook for about 3-4 minutes or until preffered doneness.
  8. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover to melt.
  9. Toast buns for a minute or until lightly browned.

Assemble the Burgers:

  1. Place each cooked patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of the toasted buns.
  2. Add your desired condiments and toppings – lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, etc.
  3. Complete the Burger:
  4. Top each assembled patty with the other half of the toasted bun.
  5. Serve your smash burgers immediately while they're hot and juicy.
